Gardaí in Ballyconnell, Co. Cavan are investigating a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision that occurred between 1.30am and 9.30am on Sunday 27th February 2011, at Corascashel, Dowra, Co Cavan (the location is approx. 2.5miles outside Dowra on the Dowra to Glangevlin Rd.)
The male (22yrs) driver was pronounced dead at the scene, he was the only occupant of the car; he was removed to Navan Hospital where a post mortem is expected to take place tomorrow the 28th Feb 2011.
The scene of the collision is closed at present to facilitate a forensic collision investigation. The road is likely to be opened later this evening.
Diversions are in place.
