Fatal road traffic collision at Carrowgowan, Mayo on the 18/2/11

Gardai in Mayo are investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred shortly before 11.30 p.m. on the 18th February 2011.

A 23 year old man, the driver and only occupant of a car, was fatally injured when his car was in collision with another car.  The two occupants of the second vehicle were uninjured.

The injured man was removed to Mayo General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. 

The crash happened at on the N5 at Carrowgowan near the village of Bohola and the road at the scene remains closed pending an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
