One man is in custody following a number of searches in the Inchicore area of Dublin 8, on the evening of the 9th February 2011.
Two houses were searched during a Garda operation and a quantity of cocaine and a firearm and ammunition were recovered.
In one of the houses Garda discovered cocaine estimated to be valued at €20,000 and seized an automatic pistol and number of rounds of ammunition. The pistol has been taken to Garda Headquarters for technical and ballistics examination. A man in his late teens was arrested at the scene; he is detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Kevin Street Garda Station.
In a second house Garda seized cocaine estimated to be valued €10,000. A female in her teens was arrested at the scene, she was subsequently released and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
