As part of the ongoing Garda investigation into fires in the Buncrana area, Gardaí have in the last two days (24th/25th August 2011) arrested five males.
They range in ages from 17 to 24 years and were detained at Buncrana (3) and Letterkenny (2) Garda Stations. One was detained under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act 1939 and the other four under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
A 17 year old male was released from custody at Buncrana last night the 24th of August and the other four remain in custody.
Gardai are investigating eleven (11) incidents of fires in the Buncrana area since early July. The attacks have been random and some have occurred in isolated rural areas. Properties targeted included unoccupied buildings; farm sheds, vehicles and a health centre.
