Gardaí at Claremorris Co Mayo are investigating a two car fatal road traffic collision which occurred on the N17 at Lisduff on the Ballindine to Claremorris Road at approximately 4.50pm today (Saturday 13th August 2011).
A 38 year old male driver of one of the cars was fatally injured, his female passenger (34 years) was injured, her injuries are not thought to be life threatening, there were no other occupants in this vehicle. The male driver (33 years) of the other car and only occupant was also injured. Both injured persons have been removed to Castlebar General Hospital.
The road is currently closed pending completion of an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.
