Gardaí at Mountjoy are investigating a serious assault that occurred shortly before 1.30am this morning, Friday 22nd April 2011, at the junction of Goldsmith Street and the North Circular Road.
A 35 year old man sustained serious injuries to his arm after he was involved in an altercation with 2 other men.
He was taken to the Mater Hospital.
In a follow up investigation 2 men were arrested in a flat on North Circular Road, Dublin 7, and were taken to Store Street Garda Station where they are detained under section 4 of Criminal Justice Act. They are aged 27 and 30 years.
The incident commenced outside the Spar Shop situated further up the North Circular Road and anyone who was in the general area of the Spar Shop and the junction with Goldsmith Street between 1am and 2am is asked to contact Gardaí at Mountjoy on 01 6668600, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
