As part of an ongoing investigation into the sale and supply of drugs in the Tallaght area, a premises was searched on the morning of 9th April, 2011 in the Donomore Park area.
The search was carried out by the Garda National Drugs Unit, assisted by units from Tallaght Garda Station. Arising out of this search, a quantity of cocaine with an estimated street value of €21,000 (subject to analysis) was seized, along with a firearm and ammunition.
A male in his 40s was arrested and detained at Tallaght Garda station under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act. He is due to appear at Tallaght District court on Monday morning the 11th April, 2011.
Seperately, gardaí in Mullingar carried out a search of a premises in the town on the evening of the 8th April 2011. During the course of the search, a cannabis factory was discovered, with the capability of producing a substantial amount of the drug.
There have been no arrests at this point, and investigations are continuing.
