Gardaí at Mill Street in Galway are investigating an armed robbery which occurred at a Betting Shop at Briarhill Shopping Centre, Briarhill, Galway at approximately 4.30pm yesterday (20/4/11).

A lone raider entered the premises with a sawn off shotgun, demanded cash and left with an undisclosed amount of money.<_o3a_p>
In a follow-up operation Gardaí arrested a 21 year old man, recovered a firearm and cash nearby. A green BMW car believed to be associated with this incident was located at Ballybrit Heights.<_o3a_p>
The man is currently detained at Mill Street Garda Station under Section 30 Offences against the State Act 1939.<_o3a_p>
Investigating Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious at the Briarhill Shopping Centre between 4pm and 5pm yesterday (20/4/11) or at Ballybrit Heights to contact the incident room at Galway 091-538000, the Garda Confidential Line 1800-666-111 or any Garda Station.<_o3a_p>
