Gardai at Granard, Co. Longford, are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the N55, Ballymahon to Edgeworthstown Rd at Carrickboy, on the 23/09/10.
The collision occurred at approximately 4.30pm between 2 cars on the N55. 2 people were injured and taken to Mullingar hospital where the male(mid 70’s) driver of one car was pronounced dead. The female(46yrs) driver of the other car received non-life threatening injuries. There were no other occupants in either car.
This section of the N55 was closed for an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. The road has now re-opened.
