Five arrests in Athlone on the 5/10/10

Gardai in Athlone have arrested 5 males as a result of a planned operation which occurred this morning at an official halting site at Blackberry Lane, Athlone at 7am the 5 of October, 2010.

The arrests are as a result of ongoing investigations in the midlands area.

A large number of implements were seized during the operation, including iron bars, hammers, hatchets, pick axe handles and various other items.

The 5 males aged from late teens to mid 30’s, are currently detained under Section 4 Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Athlone Garda Station.
