Seizure of firearms in Kildare on the 11/11/10

Gardai have seized a quantity of firearms following a search in Straffan, Co.Kildare this afternoon the 11th of November 2010.

As a result of a call from a member of the public, Gardai from Kildare Division supported by Gardai from S.D.U, based in Harcourt Square, carried out a search on open ground near Straffan, Co. Kildare.  During the course of the search Gardai located eight( 8) firearms. 

The six (6) shotguns and two (2) rifles have been taken to the Garda Technical Bureau for forensic technical examination.


A search of the area is ongoing and is expected to continue tomorrow.
