A major Garda operation is underway since the early hours of this morning Monday 8th November 2010.
The operation is focused on organised criminal activity primarily in Dublin’s North inner city.
The operation which is being co-ordinated from Store Street Garda Station is being conducted as part of an on-going intelligence led investigation into drug trafficking.
Up to 300 Gardaí are on the operation and these members are employed on searches of residences, business premises and other property at 33 separate locations across the country
The operation is also being supported by significant local resources in Cork, Wexford, Kildare and Cavan.
The Criminal Assets Bureau, the Emergency Response Unit, the Organised Crime Unit, the Air Support Unit, the Dog Unit and the Public Order unit are actively supporting the operation.
At this time (8am 8th Nov 2010) 9 persons have been arrested and have been taken to Store Street, the Bridewell, Whitehall, Togher (Cork), Mountjoy and Enniscorthy Garda Stations.

7 Persons arrested under Section 72 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2006 as amended by Section 6 of the Criminal Justice (Amendment) Act, 2009 for participation and contribution to activities that are intended to enhance the ability of a criminal organisation and members of that organisation be serious offences namely drug trafficking, contrary to Section 3 of the Criminal Justice Act 1994.
