Gardaí have named the two people who died in separate road traffic collisions in Roscommon and Meath on the 5th/6th November 2010.

Fatal road traffic collision in Roscommon on the 5th November 2010
Gardai in Clonark, Co Roscommon are investigating the circumstance of a fatal road traffic collision which occurred on the old N6 between Balinasloe and Athlone this evening the 5th November 2010.
The collision occurred at approx. 6pm on the 5th November 2010 between a car and a pedestrian. The collision occurred at Ballydangan which is about 3 miles outside Ballinasloe on the Athlone Rd (R446). A female pedestrian in her mid 50’s received serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. She has been removed to Ballinasloe hospital.
The road remains closed until tomorrow morning for a Forensic Collision examination, diversions are in place.

Fatal road traffic collision in Oldcastle, Co .Meath on the 6th November 2010.
Gardai in Kells are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision which occurred on the R195 Virginia Rd, Oldcastle, Co Meath.
At approximately 330pm a 30 year old man was seriously injured when the motor car he was travelling in as a passenger was involved in a 3 car collision. He was taken by Ambulance to Cavan Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the vehicle also sustained injuries which are not thought to be life threatening.
The road is currently closed pending a technical examination and diversions are in place.
