Gardaí in Kilkenny investigating an incident involving the false imprisonment of a bank official and his family and the attempted robbery of a financial institution in Kilkenny on the 3rd of November 2009 have carried out a number of searches in the Dublin area.
They occured this morning the 24th May 2010 and have arrested 10 people (6 males, 4 females ages 20s and 30s) as a result of the searches.
The 10 are detained in various stations throughout the South –east including Kilkenny, Carlow Waterford, Thomastown and Tramore.
6 persons are being detained under sec 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007 and 4 persons under the provisions of Section 30 Offences Against the State Act 1939 as amended.

Within existing protocols between An Garda Síochána and the financial institutions, a response management team was assembled and managed the incident which concluded early this afternoon. No persons were physically injured in this incident and no money was exchanged.
Gardaí are seeking the assistance of the public in order to identify the persons involved in this incident. They are appealing for anyone who was in the area of the Weather Station at Granges Road, Kilkenny and anyone who was in the Parliament Street area of Kilkenny City today to contact them at the incident room in Kilkenny on 056 7775070.
There will be a press briefing at Kilkenny Garda Station at 5 p.m on the 3rd of November 2009.
Gardaí are requesting that media refrain from filming or photographing at the bank official’s home.
