Nominate your Garda of the Year
New category launched as part of People of the Year Awards 27 May 2010 - The People of the Year Awards, organised by Rehab, is seeking nominations from members of the public for a special new award category this year – Garda of the Year.
The new award follows on previous special awards including Teacher of the Year, Nurse of the Year, and Ireland’s Greatest Living Musician, among others.
The members of An Garda Síochána provide an essential service to our country 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year, in protecting our communities and keeping us safe. This award seeks to honour those members who have acted far above and beyond the call of duty.
Now in their 36th year, the People of the Year Awards, which are attended by a veritable Who’s Who of Irish society, provide a unique opportunity for the Irish public to honour outstanding contributions by individuals and organisations to life in Ireland. Past winners of the Awards include the Irish Rugby Team, Sir Bob Geldof, Padraig Harrington, Mary Robinson, Veronica Guerin, Mo Mowlam, Christy Moore, Kenny Egan and Keith Duffy.
