Fatal road traffic collision at Ballina, Mayo on the 4/5/10

Gardai in Ballina are investigating a fatal collision which occurred in Ballina, Mayo at approximately 08.00hrs this morning, the 4 May 2010.

The collision occurred on O'Rahilly Street, Ballina between a pedestrian and a lorry.  A female (65yrs) was pronounced dead at the scene and she has been removed to Castlebar hospital.

The road is currently closed for a Forensic Collision examination and diversions are in place. It is believed the road will re-open later on today.
