Gardaí have arrested two men and seized a quantity of drugs following an operation in Blanchardstown, Dublin 15 last night, the 24/3/10.
The operation which was led by the Organised Crime Unit/ Garda National Drugs Unit & assisted by the Blanchardstown Garda Drugs Unit took place following the interception of a car at Blanchardstown Shopping Centre at approximately 8pm last night.
Following the search of the car, 30 kilos of Cannabis (subject to analysis) was seized and two men arrested (both in their 30’s). They are both detained at Blanchardstown Garda Station under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act 1996 and can be held up to seven days.
In a follow-up operation - a house in Fortlawn, Blanchardstown and a warehouse in Blakestown, Blanchardstown were searched and a further 30 kilos of Cannabis (subject to analysis) was seized.
The total street value of both seizures is approximately €350,000.
This operation is aimed at targeting organised crime in the west Dublin area.
There are no plans to display the seized drugs at this stage.
