The wedding of Brian O’Driscoll and Amy Huberman will take place at St. Josephs Church, Aughavas, Co. Leitrim on Friday 2nd July 2010 with the reception taking place at Lough Rynn Castle Hotel.
Gardaí will be implementing a traffic management plan on the day to ensure the safety of everyone attending the wedding.
Limited parking will be available at the church grounds with controlled access to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Local residents will be provided with permits.
The road surrounding the hotel will be closed from 6am on Friday 2nd July ’10 until 6am on Saturday 3rd July 2010.
This event is taking place over the same period as the Connacht Fleadh Cheoil in Mohill, Co. Leitrim and Gardaí expect heavier than normal traffic.
Through traffic in both directions to Aughavas will be restricted prior to and immediately after the wedding.
Motorists are advised to use an alternative route.
Superintendent Noel Carolan, Carrick-On-Shannon Garda Station said:
“the setting at Aughavas Church is absolutely idyllic but it is one which is not capable of accommodating more than a couple of hundred members of the public”. He emphasised the extent to which there are only two very small viewing areas which will command a view of the event. He continued by saying that “a road closure order and other traffic management measures are necessary to ensure the safety of everyone attending the wedding and the reception being held afterwards on the afternoon of Friday 2nd July next”. Considerable traffic volumes are expected to be in the area given that, nearby Mohill town is hosting the Connacht Fleadh Cheoil."
