Gardaí have identified the body discovered on the 31 May 2010 as Lee Slattery (aged 24), who had been missing from the Ballynanty area of Limerick since the 27th May 2010.
The body was discovered in the Delmege House area. This is an old estate near Moyross. The post-mortem on the body has been completed, and the results have been supplied to the investigation team. They show that Lee died as a result of gunshot wounds.
Gardaí in Limerick are anxious to trace the final movements of Lee, and as such are appealing to members of the public to contact them with any information they may have. In particular, Gardaí are appealing for anyone who saw or heard anything on Thursday night (late) 27/5/10 or Friday morning (early) 28/5/10 in the Ballynanty or Delmege House areas.
As part of a search of the wider area, Gardaí have recovered a handgun, which is currently being technically examined.

Gardaí from Mayorstone Park investigating a missing persons report sealed off an area of waste ground at Delmedge Demesne yesterday afternoon, Monday 31st May 2010.
The services of the Garda Technical Bureau were requested and on arrival at scene they conducted a preliminary examination.
This examination confirmed the presence of a body.
A full examination will take place this morning.
The State Pathologist has been informed and a post mortem is expected to be carried out later today, Tuesday 1st March 2010.
No identification of the body or determination of gender has been made.
Investigations are continuing and the area remains sealed off.
