Shortly before 10pm last night, Monday 26th July 2010, Gardaí received a call that stated an assault was taking place on Cashel Avenue and that a firearm had been produced during the course of that assault.
On arrival at scene Gardaí spoke to a number of people present and in a follow up investigation they searched a house on Cashel Avenue, Crumlin, Dublin 12.
During the course of this search 3 firearms (a sawn-off shot gun, a replica AK47 and a replica handgun), a quantity of ammunition (36 shotgun cartridges) and a bayonet were recovered.
A 33 year old man and a 35 year old woman were arrested at scene and are presently detained at Crumlin and Sundrive Road Garda Stations under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
Another search was conducted in Edenmore Park with negative results.
Investigations are continuing.
