As a result of ongoing investigations into the sale and supply of controlled drugs in South Kilkenny, Gardai from South Kilkenny conducted a search in the area of Garrygaug, Mulinavat, Co. Kilkenny at 7 a.m. this morning 31st July, 2010.
The search of this house and out houses revealed that an elaborate growing operation was located in an outhouse. Both floors were specially adapted for the purpose of cultivation. A large generator as well as an elaborate ventilation and heating system were all located in the outhouse.
Approximately 65 Cannabis plants in various stages of growth were located on the ground floor and 18 Cannabis plants were located on the 1st floor. Various plant products and plant foods were also located.
The total street value of the seizure is believed to be in the region of €35,000.00, subject to further analysis.
Two men in their 70's and 40's were arrested at the scene and are both detained at Thomastown Garda Station under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act.
