Gardai are warning all motorists to reduce their speed and only travel if necessary over this weekend due to heavy snow and very icy conditions.
Heavy snow is now falling in the greater Dublin area which is making driving conditions very treacherous and dangerous for all road users.
Persons intending on travelling to Dublin Airport are asked to check with their Airline as all flights in and out of Dublin Airport are currently suspended - 9am on the 9/1/10.
Drivers are asked to check for traffic updates on Radio News Bulletins throughout the weekend.
Gardai are also advising people to stay off the ice on frozen canals, ponds, lakes and flooded areas. More information is available on the Irish Water Safety Website www.iws.ie
