A second man(29 yrs) was arrested in Sligo this evening 7th August 2010 in connection with a serious assault which occurred in the Cartron Point area of Sligo on Thursday morning 6th August, 2010.
He is being detained in Manorhamilton Garda station under the provisions of sec 30 Offences Against the State Act 1939 as amended.
The first male is still in custody in Ballymoate. The injured party remains in a critical condition in Sligo General Hospital.

Gardai in Sligo are investigating all the circumstances of a serious assault which occured in the Cartron Point area of Sligo on Thursday morning 6th August, 2010.
A 60 year old man was seriously assaulted and subsequently removed to Sligo General Hospital where his is being treated for his injuries which are described as critical.
A male aged 28 years was arrested in Sligo town last night 6th August, 2010 and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at Ballymote Garda Station.
