Gardaí at Abbeyleix, Co. Laois are appealing for witnesses to a serious road traffic collision which occurred yesterday afternoon (1/4/10).
The collision occurred at Colt, Ballyroan, Co. Laois (N7) at approximately 3.30pm. A car and lorry where involved in the incident.
Any person who have witnessed this collision is asked to contact the Gardaí at Abbeyleix at 057- 8730580, the Garda Confidential Line 1-800-666-111 or any Garda Station.

Following a collision between a truck and a car at approximately 4pm this afternoon, the N7 between Abbeyleix and Portlaoise is currently closed in both directions. Avoid this road if possible.
The Garda Síochána, and other emergency services are currently at the scene. Traffic is diverted, and drivers should follow the diversion signs, and instructions of Gardaí on point duty.
The diversions are as follows:
From Dublin direction – diverted at Borris-in-Ossory to Durrow.
From Cork direction – diverted at Stradbally to Monasterevin.
There was one female seriously injured, and she has been removed to Portlaoise General Hospital. Three other adults, and three children were also injured, - however their injuries are not thought to be as serious.
