Drug seizure and arrests in Waterford on the 20/4/10

Gardai and officers from Revenue's Customs Service have siezed 150kg of cannibis herb this morning, the 20th April 2010 in Waterford City.

The herbal cannabis was seized when a van was stopped in the city centre.  Subject to analysis the drugs may have a street value of 1.8 million Euro.

A man in his 50's, an Irish national, was arrested at the scene and is detained at Waterford Garda Station Under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996. He can be detained for up to seven days.
