A man has been arrested in Cork City.
A man in his mid 40’s has been arrested in Cork City in relation to the investigation into the death of
57 year old Catherine Smart.
He is presently detained in Midleton Garda Station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Gardaí at Midleton are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the death of a 57 year old woman at an address at Bailick Court, Midleton, Co. Cork.
The woman’s body was discovered at 10am this morning (4/4/10) at the above address.
The scene was immediately sealed off and the services of the Garda Technical Bureau and the State Pathologists office were requested.
A Post Mortem examination was carried out this afternoon at Cork University Hospital (CUH) by the State Pathologist Professor Marie Cassidy and the results have been made know to the investigating team based at Midleton.
For operational reasons the results of the Post Mortem are not being released at this stage.
