Gardai in Anglesea Street are investigating an alleged assault which occurred at 6.30pm this evening – 17th April 2010 on Lower Oliver Plunkett Street in Cork City.
One man in his early 30's has been brought to Cork University Hospital having sustained what are believed to be serious head injuries.
Another man in his late 20’s has been arrested in connection with the incident and is being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Anglesea Street Garda Station.
Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have been in the vicinity of Lower Oliver Plunkett Street between 6.00pm and 6.45pm this evening and may have witnessed the incident or have any information to contact Anglesea Street Garda Station on 021-4522000 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666-111.
