Intercultural Family Open Day – Lucan Garda Station

Sunday, 27th September 2009, starting at 2pm.

The Gardaí at Lucan are delighted to announce that on Sunday, the 27th September 2009, Lucan Garda Station will be the venue for an Intercultural Family Open Day.  The event will run from 2pm and will take place in association with a festival in Lucan village.

Speaking at Lucan Garda Station, Superintendent Patrick Clavin said: “this will be the third such event and large crowds are expected to attend. It is a great opportunity for everybody in the community to meet and enjoy a relaxed day together.  The day is aimed at strengthening relationships between local Gardaí and the local community, particularly members of the our non-Irish national community”.

The Garda Band will be playing for the occasion and there will be "face painting" and other entertainment for children.  The Garda Mounted Unit will be there and visitors will also be able to learn about some of the other specialist Garda units including the Garda Dog Unit, Garda Water Unit, Divisional Traffic Unit, Mobile Incident Room Visitors and many other specialist Units within An Garda Siochana.  Visitors will also be able to tour the station and get advice from Crime Prevention Officers and Community Gardaí.

Everyone is welcome to visit the station and enjoy the day’s events.  Last years event attracted over 600 people and Gardaí are hoping for a similar turnout this year.
