The 4th Annual Consultation Forum is being hosted by The Garda ‘Community Relations & Community Policing’ Section.

Deputy Commissioner Nacie Rice, who is responsible for Strategy and Change Management in An Garda Síochána, will open the ‘4th Annual Garda Consultation Process’ Meeting, which is being held tomorrow, Friday, 20th November 2009 at 9.30am at the Coach House, Dublin Castle, Dublin 2.

The 4th Annual Consultation Forum is being hosted by The Garda ‘Community Relations & Community Policing’ Section and coincides with the recent launch of the ‘Garda Síochána Diversity Strategy & Implementation Plan 2009 – 2012’.

The Garda Síochána is committed to recognising, acknowledging and respecting the diverse nature of communities within Ireland. In this regard, An Garda Síochána, on an annual basis, hosts ‘Consultation Forums’ with it's Community Stakeholders from Diverse and minority backgrounds, with a view to fostering and developing positive community partnerships.

At this year’s event, a keynote speech will be delivered by the Garda Síochána Chief Administrative Officer, Mr. John Leamy.  Mr. Leamy was recently appointed by the Garda Commissioner as the Organisational ‘Diversity Champion’ to oversee the Implementation of the Garda Síochána ‘Diversity Strategy’.  This event will be attended by representatives from various groups reflecting the diverse nature of Irish Society and a number of Garda Ethnic Liaison Officers.

According to Deputy Commissioner Rice, “As an organisation, we have a long-established tradition of developing and maintaining close relationships with the communities in which we work. We are grateful for the invaluable assistance we have received from many members of all our communities over the years. They have been very active, working closely with our Community Gardaí and with our Ethnic Liaison Officers and Liaison Officers for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender communities ”.
