The driver was arrested and is currently detained at Naas Garda Station.
On the 19th November 2009 at approx 13.40hrs the Garda National Drugs Unit and Naas District Detective and Drug Units stopped a vehicle in Naas, Co. Kildare. The vehicle contained a number of large cardboard cartons which when examined revealed 122kgs of what is believed to be Herbal Cannabis (subject to analysis) and 2kgs of suspected Cocaine (subject to analysis), the combined total of which has an estimated street value of €1.6million.
The driver, who is 36yrs was arrested and is currently detained at Naas Garda Station pursuant to Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
