Garda Commissioner Fachtna Murphy signed a Liaison Agreement with Mr. Bill Smith, the Director General of the Civil Defence.
Today, the 26/5/09 at Garda Headquarters, Garda Commissioner Fachtna Murphy signed a Liaison Agreement with Mr. Bill Smith, the Director General of the Civil Defence. Mr Smith was accompanied at the signing by Mr. Joe Meagher, Chairman of the Civil Defence Board.
In welcoming the Civil Defence Officers to Garda Headquarters Commissioner Murphy stated that “The Liaison Agreement signed today updates procedural changes identified in the Framework Document for Major Emergency Management and will enhance the already excellent working relationship and high level of cooperation between An Garda Siochana and Civil Defence”. The Commissioner took the opportunity to thank again the Civil Defence for their dedication and professional approach and added that “members of the Civil Defence throughout the country have made a valuable contribution to the community through their involvement in responding to search and emergency situations”.
