The deceased was a white male approximately 40 years of age, 5' 6'' in height and well built. He had short black hair receding from the forehead and thinning at the crown.
On Wednesday, the 8th October 2008 Gardaí at Drogheda received a report that a person had been struck by a train on the North/South line at Greenbatter, Drogheda, Co. Louth resulting in instant death.
The body was taken to the mortuary at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda.
Exhaustive efforts have been made in attempting to identify this body and Gardaí at Drogheda are now appealing to the public for assistance.
The deceased was a white male approximately 40 years of age, 5' 6'' in height and well built. He had short black hair receding from the forehead and thinning at the crown. His eyes were hazel with a tint of grey. Left upper tooth at front is decayed and the last molar tooth on right hand side of lower jaw is missing (not as a result of the accident). The skin on his hands was tough indicating the possibility of a manual worker, nails short and trimmed.
The body had no tattoos.
He was dressed in black jeans with a brown leather belt, black fleece jacket with yellow trim and collar and "National Geographic" logo on left hand side of chest. He also wore a brown sheepskin jacket with white sheepskin on the inside "Mettle" brand. His footwear was brown hiking runners "Activ " make - size 8 or 9.

There was also a diabetic's kit found in close proximity to the body which may have belonged to the deceased.
