Traffic arrangements for Heineken Cup Rugby Match at Thomond Park Rugby Stadium on the 16/1/09.
Heineken Cup Rugby Match at Thomond Park Rugby Stadium – MUNSTER – v – SALE SHARKS – Friday 16th January 2009 @ 8.00pm.

Roads in estates in the Mayorstone / Ennis Road / Ballynanty areas in the vicinity of Thomond Park Rugby Stadium will be closed off to traffic before this game. PSV vehicles including, taxis / hackneys / busses and specially adapted (Disabled) vehicles and vehicles with Resident Passes will be permitted beyond road closures / diversions.
THERE IS VIRTUALLY NO PARKING IN THE ESTATES ADJACENT TO THOMOND PARK AND PATRONS ARE URGED NOT TO DRIVE OUT TO THIS AREA TO PARK THEIR VEHICLE
Parking Restrictions will be in place in the vicinity of the Stadium and vehicles illegally parked will be towed. Impound Fees of €125.00 will apply for vehicles that are towed – payable (cash only) before release.
DIVERSIONS: - Diversions will be dependant on traffic volumes and may be put in place if required on the 16TH January 2009 as follows:
1. Inbound to the City from Ennis Road & Outbound via Clonmacken Road: Traffic travelling inbound from the Ennis direction and intending to turn left at Ivan’s Cross for the Northern Ring Road / Brookeville Avenue and traffic travelling outbound from the City in this direction via Clonmacken Road will be diverted straight on or right on to the Ennis Road.
2. Outbound from the City: Parking for traffic travelling outbound from the City will be severely restricted in line with the Road Closures in areas in the vicinity of Thomond Park and the advice to Patrons travelling out from the City is to park in the City Centre and avail of the Shuttle Bus Service that will be provided out to the Stadium from Lower Henry Street.
3. East bound Traffic: Sexton Street North / Old Cratloe Road will remain open, though traffic is expected to be heavy on this route, in particular at the junction of Hassett’s Cross and Shelbourne Road areas.
4. Inbound from Moyross / Long Pavement: Traffic will be diverted onto New Road, Kileely.
The Garda advice to all patrons attending this event on the 16th January 2009 is to arrive early, avail of street parking in the City Centre areas. Patrons can either walk out to the Stadium – 15/20 minute walk or avail of the Shuttle Bus Service departing from the Bus Eireann Bus Stop, Lower Henry Street to the Stadium or a PSV vehicle. Patrons availing of this advice are likely to avoid delays in travelling home after the match.
The Old Cratloe Road – Cratloe Road Roundabout to Hassett’s Cross and Shelbourne Road – Hassett’s Cross to Union Cross will be closed to all traffic (for approx 20 minutes / half an hour) on termination of the Match to permit the safe egress of patrons from the Stadium.
