Gardai at Tallaght are investigating a traffic collision which occurred this afternoon (11/12/09) at approximately 1 p.m. on the N82 - City West and N81 Blessington junction.
The collision involved a 4x4 vehicle and three cars. Eight people were removed to Tallaght hospital with minor injuries.
Traffic is diverted at Saggart and Citywest. Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.
It is understood that prior to this collision Gardai from Tallaght were attempting to stop one of the cars involved in the collision however the driver failed to stop.
This matter is now being referred to the Garda Siochana Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) and all further media queries should be directed to them.
