Gardai are investigating two seperate incidents which occured at Greenfort Close, Clondalkin, Dublin 22 and at Lisafannon, Co. Donegal on Sunday, the 13th September 2009.
The Garda Commissioner Fachtna Murphy has condemned an incident which occurred this morning (13/12/09) in which shots were fired at Gardaí.
The incident occurred on Greenfort Close, Clondalkin, Dublin at approximately 1.15 a.m.
Gardaí were investigating reports of damage to a house, when a number of shots were discharged in the direction of a neighbouring house, one of which entered through the front door where three members of An Garda Síochána were speaking with the resident. One of the Gardaí received minor injuries.
The Garda Commissioner said-
"I want to condemn this deplorable attack which put the lives of Gardaí and members of the public at risk. I have directed that the local Gardaí in Ronanstown who are investigating the incident receive whatever assistance and support their require from national units in order to bring those responsible to justice."

Commissioner Murphy also referred to a road traffic collision in Co. Donegal this morning (13/12/09) during which two members of An Garda Síochána were injured, one seriously. He said-
"These two gardaí were injured while out in service of the community. I hope that both of them make a full recovery."
The road traffic collision occurred at Lisfannon, Co. Donegal on the road from Letterkenny to Bridgend at approximately 1.30am on the 13.12.09. Two members of An Garda Siochana were taken to Letterkenny General Hospital following the collision. The driver is in a serious condition and the passenger is believed to have injuries described as not life threatening. The driver and lone occupant of the second car was also taken to Letterkenny General Hospital. As is normal practice, the Garda Siochana Ombudsman Commission has been contacted.
