Fatal house fire at Scalagheen, Tipperary on the 16/12/09

Gardai in Tipperary Town are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal house fire which occurred at Locurra, Scalagheen, Tipperary at approximately 8.30pm last night, Wednesday, the 16/12/09.

An elderly couple died in the fire and were believed to be the only occupants of the house.  Their bodies have been removed to Waterford Regional Hospital where a post mortem will take place later today, the 17/12/09.


The scene of the fire remains sealed off pending a Garda Forensic Examination.


At this stage Gardai believe the fire started accidentally.
