Gardai from Mullingar are investigating all the circumstances surrounding an incident that occurred at a housing estate in Mullingar.
Gardai from Mullingar are investigating all the circumstances surrounding an incident that occurred at a housing estate in Mullingar at approximately 1.30 a.m. this morning, the 19th April, 2009 having responded to a call that a loud explosion had taken place.
On arriving at the scene Gardai cordoned off the area and requested the Army Explosive Ordinance Disposal team.
The Army EOD team arrived and there examination of the scene showed that an explosive device had detonated under a car and caused damaged to the engine and front of it.
Scene is now being preserved and the matter under investigation.
