Gardai from Pearse Street and Harcourt Terrace Garda Stations carried out searches of five premises on Friday 19th September 2008.
As part of Operation Harbour, Gardai from Pearse Street and Harcourt Terrace Garda Stations carried out searches of five premises on Friday 19th September 2008 under the Video Recordings Act 1989.
A total of 7,800 unlicensed DVD's were seized from all the locations and will be referred to the office of the Film Classification Office. The retail value is estimated between €360,000 and €400,000. No arrests were made and files will be prepaired for the Director Of Public Prosecution. This is part of an ongoing operation.
Two previous searches, on the 24/07/08 and the 11/09/08, resulted in the seizure of 1,980 DVD's with a retail value of €110,000. The total number of videos seized as part of the operation to date is 9,780 with a retail value of €460,000 and €500,000.
