Operation Archer was set up two weeks ago to target organised crime in the Finglas area.
On Saturday the 6th of September a sawn off shotgun was recovered following the search of a house in Finglas South, two men were arrested. They were later released and a file is being prepared for the D.P.P.
On Monday the 8th a car was searched in Finglas, and €80,000 worth of cannabis resin was seized, no one was arrested and the incident is under investigation.
On Tuesday a man was arrested and a sawn off shotgun recovered following a house search in Finglas South. The man was charged with firearms offences and will appear in court later this month.
As part of the same operation a house in Navan, Co.Meath was searched this evening the 10th of September. Gardai recovered a crossbow and 10 crossbow bolts, a .45 calibre handgun and five rounds of ammunition.
In a related operation at a house in Finglas West, Gardai seized a .22 calibre handgun.There were no arrests.
Local Garda officers are crediting information received from the public as being pivotal in the success of this operation, and are calling on anyone with information to contact them on 01 666 7500.
In a separate operation in Ballymun this morning, Gardai recovered five firearms, three sawn off shotguns and two handguns, a man in his 40's was arrested and is detained at Santry Garda station.
