Gardai from the National Support Services have arrested 2 men following the seizure of what is believed to be 10kg of heroin.
As part of an ongoing operation targeting illegal drug activity in the South Dublin area Gardai from the National Support Services have arrested 2 men following the seizure of what is believed to be 10kg of heroin pending analysis in the Templeogue area of Dublin earlier this afternoon – 30th September 2008.
The men both in their mid 20’s are being detained in Terenure and Rathmines Garda stations under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act. The drugs were seized when a van was stopped in Templeogue. During a follow-up search of an apartment in the Nangor Road area of Clondalkin this evening, Gardai recovered what is believed to be 14kg of cocaine and 4 kg of cannabis pending analysis, along with assorted paraphernalia.
At this time the total estimated street value of the seizures is believed to be in excess of Euro 5 million.
