The Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, Mr. Dermot Ahern, T.D., presented Certificates to 273 Gardaí (100 Females and 173 Males) at a Graduation Ceremony at the Garda College, Templemore today.
The COMMISSIONER’S MEDAL – awarded to the Student achieving the highest aggregate marks in academic subjects – was won by Garda Orla Ambrose, a native of Forth Mountain, Wexford and who will be stationed at Carlow Garda Station
Garda Siobhan McCarthy a native of Ennis, Co. Clare was awarded the GARY SHEEHAN MEMORIAL MEDAL, commemorating a Recruit Garda who was killed on duty in Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim, in December, 1983. This prize is awarded to the best all-round Student. Garda McCarthy will be attached to Cahir Garda Station.
THE TEMPLEMORE TOWN COUNCIL MEDAL, for outstanding achievement and appreciation in the area of Social Science Studies, was presented to Garda Mary McCabe, a native of Finglas, Dublin and who will be stationed at Sundrive Road Garda Station.
The Commissioner also awarded 3 BRONZE SCOTT MEDALS to members of An Garda Síochána who have shown exceptional courage and heroism involving risk to life in the execution of duty.
