He is currently detained under Section 4 Criminal Justice Act at Bailieboro Garda station.

Gardai at Bailieboro have named the 26 year old male killed in the fatal road traffic collision on the 25/10/08 at Kingscourt, as Johnathon Heagney from Aughnagar, Galbally, Dungannon, Co. Tyrone.
Gardai wish to appeal for anyone with information in relation to a dark red / maroon coloured Audi type car that may have been in the area at the time and may have been damaged, to contact the Gardai at Bailieboro 0n 042-9694570, the Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800-666-111 or any Garda Station. Gardai in Bailieboro are appealing for information from the public in relation to a Fatal Road Traffic Collision that occured on the Carrickmacross Road out of Kingscourt, Co. Cavan between the hours of 2 a.m. and 2 p.m. today Saturday 25th October, 2008. The collision occured when a male pedestrian was hit by an unknown vehicle that failed to stop. The male pedestrian in his late twenties has been removed to Navan Hospital for a post mortem examination. The road has been closed and diversions are in place at Drumcondrath Road, Kingscourt and Magheracloone Cross, Carrickmacross for a technical examination. Investigating Gardai are anxious to speak to anybody who may have been on the Carrickmacross Road out of Kingscourt area between 2 a.m. and 2 p.m. today.
