Gardaí at Kanturk are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the N72 at Roskeen.
Gardaí at Kanturk are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred at approximately 1.30pm this afternoon on the N72 at Roskeen. This is on the main Mallow to Killarney road.
The collision involved 2 cars and the male driver of the first car was fatally injured. He was 28 years of age and death was pronounced at scene.
The male driver of the second car was taken to Cork University Hospital with serious injuries.
A female passanger in the second car was taken to the same hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.
The road remains closed awaiting the completion of a forensic collision examination.
It is expected to be closed until at least mid-night. Motorists are asked to avoid this route if possible.
Diversions are being implemented at Cecilstown and Ballymacquirke.
