Gardai investigating an armed robbery at a jewelers at William Gate Street, Galway city, at approx 1.15pm today (28th November 2008) have arrested 2 men aged 24 and 25 years.
Gardai investigating an armed robbery at a jewelers at William Gate Street, Galway city, at approx 1.15pm today (28th November 2008) have arrested 2 men aged 24 and 25 years.
The arrests were made in Athenry shortly after 5pm and the men are being detained at Mill Street Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
3 raiders had entered the premises, armed with firearms and crowbars and made off with a quantity of jewellery.
Gardai are appealing for information regarding a vehicle believed to have been used in the robbery.
It was a Blue / Grey Volvo S80 - Registration Number: 02-D-72615 and was last seen in the Cartymore area of Galway on the main Galway / Monivea Road at 1.45pm today.
