Gardaí at Mayorstone in Limerick are investigating a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision that occurred at approximately 8.45pm on the 1st May on the N18 at Portdrine, Cratloe, Co. Clare.
A motor car went out of control and collided with a tree.
The 54 year old male driver and sole occupant of the car was taken to the Regional Hospital, Dooradoyle where he was pronounced dead at 9.40pm.
The road was closed at the time but was re-opened at mid night.
