Traffic arrangements for Bon Jovi Concert on the 7/6/08.

Gardai wish to advice members of the public that a full and comprehensive Garda traffic plan in relation to the Bon Jovi Concert at Punchestown Racecourse on the 7th June 2008 are also available on the Garda Website.

GardaTraffic Management Plan and Details for the 7th June 2008.  

Travel Routes

 

1.  Traffic from the M1, N2, N3 and N4 will travel via the M50 to the N7 (Dublin / Limerick Road). 

Traffic travelling from the Dublin direction on the N7, may avail of the Park & Ride facility at Goffs (Exit No. 8) with a dedicated Free of Charge shuttle bus service to and from the Concert.

These buses will be allowed to set down passengers at the reserved on site area in Punchestown, and collect passengers after the Concert to return them to the Park and Ride facility.

All non bus transport wishing to park in the BLUE CAR PARK area will travel into Naas via Maudlins, Dublin Road, Blessington Road via the R410, to Beggar’s End Crossroads, and into Punchestown Racecourse (BLUE CAR PARK) located on the Walshestown Road.  

2.Traffic travelling from South Dublin can travel via the N81 (Tallaght / Blessington Rd) to Ballymore Eustace (R411) and onto Punchestown Racecourse (to enter the RED CAR PARK) located on the Ballymore Eustace Road.  

3.  Traffic from the South East can travel via the Carlow or Athy routes to Kilcullen.

Traffic should proceed northbound on the M9/M7 Motorway onto the Naas South, Newhall junction (Exit 10) to avail of the Park & Ride facility at Flood’s Cross, with a dedicated Free of Charge shuttle bus service to and from the Concert.

These buses will be allowed to set down passengers at the reserved on site area in Punchestown, and collect passengers after the event to return them to the park and ride facility.

Traffic wishing to avail of the parking facilities in the RED CAR PARK (on the Ballymore Eustace Road), should proceed through Kilcullen on the Naas Road (R448) turn right at a landmark called Raffertys Mill ( at Mylerstown Cross), and travel onto Punchestown Racecourse (to enter the RED CAR PARK) on the Ballymore Eustace Road.    

4.  Traffic from the South / South West approaching on the N7 northbound should proceed northbound on the M7 Motorway onto the Naas South, Newhall junction (Exit 10) to avail of the Park & Ride facility at Flood’s Cross, with a dedicated Free of Charge shuttle bus service to and from the Concert.

These buses will be allowed to set down passengers at the reserved on site area in Punchestown, and collect passengers after the event to return them to the park and ride facility.

Traffic wishing to use the RED CAR PARK on the Ballymore Eustace Road can travel via the N7 exiting off at Newbridge junction (Exit 12) (Ballymany Fly over) travel on towards Kilcullen. Traffic will take the left turn off this road to Athgarvan and Two Mile House arriving at Raffertys Mill (Mylerstown Cross) travel onto Punchestown Racecourse (to enter the RED CAR PARK).   

The Gardai wish to advise people to read and follow the VMS (Variable Message Signs) and AA signage on the approach to and from this Event and/or the Park and Ride sites as applicable. Gardai will be on traffic duty to direct and assist traffic.    

 

Coach / Bus Transport Public/Private Bus Transport to this Concert from M1, N2, N3, N4, Dublin and the N7 southbound should leave the N7 at Maudlins junction (Exit 9), and shall travel into Naas on the Dublin Road to the Blessington road (R410).

Bus transport from N7 Northbound may exit at Newhall junction (Exit 10) travel into Naas, turning right at Chadwick’s onto the new Southern Ring Road, through the new roundabouts at the Ballymore Eustace Road and Craddockstown Road and proceed onto the Blessington road (R410) to Beggar’s End Crossroads. On the approach to Punchestown Racecourse they will be directed through Gate 2 (Beggar’s End Gate) to the on site Bus Set Down /Pick Up areas.   

Park and Ride Centre - the park and ride facilities have been extended in the traffic management arrangements for this Bon Jovi Concert. 

There are two park and ride facilities which are located at

(1) Goffs, Greenhills, Kill, and

(2) Flood’s Cross, Newhall, Naas. The event promoter will use advance advertising and media campaigns to highlight the availability of the park and ride facilities.

Signage will also be utilised and strategically placed on the approach to these facilities to inform patrons. The main aim of the park and ride is to reduce the traffic congestion and burden on Punchestown and to encourage patrons attending the concert and parents / guardians dropping people for the concert to use this facility.

There will be a shuttle bus service, operated by Dublin Bus to and from these facilities to the Concert and this service will be free of charge.

A one-way traffic system will operate throughout this event for shuttle buses to and from the Park and Ride Facilities. 

All such vehicles will enter via Gate 2 (Beggar’s End Gate, from the Blessington Road side and exit via Gate 1 (Main Gate) travel on to the Ballymore / Watch House Cross route to the Park and Ride Facilities.    

VMS (Variable Message Signs) will be utilised in conjunction with AA Signs which will provide clear direction to these locations and people are advised to read and follow the signage.   

Parking Arrangements –   All non-bus concert transport on the Blessington Road will be directed from Beggars End Cross to turn left at the next junction (Walshestown Road) where they will enter the BLUE CAR PARK.   

All non-bus concert transport on the Ballymore Eustace Road / Watch House Cross junction will be directed from the Ballymore Eustace Road into the RED CAR PARK.  

All buses will be directed from the Blessington Road to Gate 2 (Beggars End Gate) to the reserved on site bus facility, where they will be allowed to set down and pick up passengers before and after the Concert.   Pedestrian traffic will not be allowed on any routes.  

Dublin Bus will provide a special bus service for patrons attending this Concert, departing from Parnell Square in Dublin City Centre. Departure time commences from 1pm on the 7/6/’08 and the last bus to the Concert departs at 6pm the same date. This service will operate at 20 minute intervals. Return journey to Dublin will commence after the Concert. 

Private Coaches and Dublin Bus have been provided with designated parking areas on site and priority will be given to these vehicles to ensure the easy access and egress of such vehicles to and from site for this event. 

Parking / Towing Vehicles  Parking of vehicles will not be permitted on any of the approach routes to this concert site on the day of the event. 

Parking restrictions will be in place on roads leading to the concert site. 

Vehicles found breaching the restrictions will be towed away and towing charges will be incurred in such cases.  

Taxi / Car Drop Off:  All taxis and cars wishing to drop off passengers will be directed to the Park & Ride Facility at Goff’s. Full use of the Park and Ride should be advised for drop offs. Taxis who may try to enter with other traffic will be directed into the nearest RED or BLUE CAR PARKS with the traffic.  

Taxi / Car Pick Up:  All taxis and cars picking up at the end of show shall be directed to the Park & Ride Facility at Goff’s.  Full use of the Park and Ride should be advised for pick ups. 

Emergency Route - The Craddockstown Road has been designated as the event Emergency Route and will be manned at all times for the duration of the event.  This route will be used by emergency vehicles, residents and Officials from Kildare County Council ONLY. No other vehicles including taxis, buses etc will be allowed access this route.
