Gardaí in Limerick are today carrying out searches as part of the investigation into two shootings that took place in the city over the weekend.
The arrests in this case took place this morning the 8th of July and not yesterday the 7th as previously stated.

Gardai Investigating the death of James Cronin who’s body was found on waste ground in Limerick on the 7th of April 2008 yesterday evening arrested 6 people in connection with this incident.
Three males, two in their early 20's and one aged 16 along with three females in their early 20’s were arrested yesterday evening in the Weston area of Limerick.
They are being detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act at Roxboro, Mayorstone, Henry Street and Askeaton Garda Stations. They can be detained for a period up to 72 hrs.

Post Mortem Result from Limerick - The post mortem examination on the body of 20 year old James Cronin has concluded.
It has been established that his death was caused by a gunshot wound.
The incident remains under investigation and any updates will be issued in due course.

Gardai wish to advise that the State pathologist Dr Marie Casssidy has visited the scene at Caledonian Park in Limerick this afternoon and has made a preliminary examination of the body.
The body remains at the scene and a full crime scene examination will take place at first light on the 8th of April.
There are no further details for release at this time regarding the age, sex or identity of the body.

Gardaí in Limerick are today carrying out searches as part of the investigation into two shootings that took place in the city over the weekend.
At approximately mid-day a body was found on waste ground close to the Caledonian Park area of Limerick. The scene has been preserved, and the State Pathologist’s office has been notified, as has the Garda Technical Bureau.
Gardaí at Roxboro Road are appealing for any person with information (particularly anyone who was in the waste ground area within the last 48 hours) to contact them at the station. Their phone number is 061 – 214340.
As a result of the searches (which are ongoing) two firearms and ammunition were also recovered. These have been sent for technical examination.
Signifiacant developments will be reported in due course.
