The Gardai at Castlebar , Co Mayo are investigating a serious road traffic collision which occurred at 6.15pm this evening (Tuesday 8th July 2008).
A tractor and a van where in collision at Cloggernagh, Glenhest, Newport, Co Mayo.
The male driver of the van has been taken to Castlebar General Hospital where he is described as critical.
The road is currently closed for technical examination and is not expected to reopen until the morning. Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.
