Gardai at Newcastlewest Garda Station are investigating a fatal road traffic collision on the 7th of July 2008.
At about 8am a 10 year old boy was killed after being struck by a van whilst crossing the road.
The accident occurred in the townland of Direen, on a road between the towns of Athea and Glin, Co. Limerick.
The boy was pronounced dead at the scene and his body removed to Limerick Regional Hospital.
The driver of the van was not injured.
The roadway at the scene of the crash has now reopened.
