Gardaí at Galway are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the Sean Mulvoy Road at approximately 8.45am this morning the 12/12/08.
Gardaí at Galway are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the Sean Mulvoy Road at approximately 8.45am this morning the 12/12/08.
Sean Mulvoy Road is on the Headford Road to Cemetery Cross route out of Galway City.
The collision involved 3 cars and the 29 year old male driver of one of the cars is deceased. His body was taken to the mortuary of University College Hospital Galway
A male passenger in one of the other cars was taken to the same hospital with serious injuries.
This road is closed at present, pending a forensic collision investigation, and it is expected to be closed until at least 4pm.
Diversions are in place.
Motorists are asked to avoid this area if possible.
The 3 cars involved are a blue Honda Civic, a black Honda Civic and a blue Fiat Maria Estate.
Anyone who saw these cars prior to, or at the time of, the collision is asked to contact Gardaí at Galway on 091 538000.
Also, there was a Silver Nissan parked near to the scene which weas removed since. It is possible that this driver may have information to offer and they are asked to contact Gardaí at Galway as well.
